We are a collective of entrepreneurs, innovators, theologians, and business leaders, united by a common faith and the conviction that the Christian Social Thought is very useful to discern the uses of AI and navigate its transformations.

The project is led by Professor Etienne de Rocquigny and Augustin Destremau, serial entrepreneurs & co-founders of the initiative.
Pope Leo XIV
"The Church offers everyone the treasure of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to the developments in the field of AI that pose new challenges for the defense of human dignity, justice, and labor."
- Pope Leo XIV, May 10th, 2025

Why this initiative?

Faced with the AI revolution, a spiritual and ethical void threatens to divert this technology from its vocation to serve the common good.

The Rerum Novairum initiative was born from the urgency to fill this void by mobilizing Christian entrepreneurs and leaders from around the world.

Pope Leo XIV called for a new vision, rooted in the social doctrine of the Church, to guide the development of AI.

Our Pillars

Human Dignity: Placing the human person at the center of all technological innovation.
Common Good: Directing AI towards solutions that benefit all of society, especially the most vulnerable.
Solidarity & Subsidiarity: Promoting an AI that strengthens communities and supports the autonomy of individuals and groups.
Just Work: Shaping a future where technology enhances human capabilities and supports dignified work.

Our Mission

We produce commons fed with world best practices and inspiring testimonials like those included in our first whitepaper given to the Vatican in Dec. 2025, as well as scalable discernment programs to help professionals and decision-makers serve dignifying work in the age of AI. Our creative commons contents also aim to feed the reflection of the churches and the Vatican commission on AI.

Our Approach

Rooted in a bottom-up, commons-driven, fully-independent and ecumenical approach, it draws on Christian Social Thought to provide a deep-grounded and practical framework for decision-makers from all backgrounds. Rerum Novairum aims to bring together, inspire, facilite local groups to discern best practices in particular contexts and businesses, share commons, train and mobilize a generation of leaders capables of serving without enslaving in the era of AI and global transitions.

Our Target Audience

This initiative is aimed at entrepreneurs, leaders of technology companies, investors, policymakers, and all those involved in the development and deployment of AI who share the conviction that technology must be rooted in deep human and spiritual values.

Discern & Contribute

Our mission is to build a community sharing best practices and use-cases to inspire discernment — to serve without enslaving. You are invited to contribute and help others discern.

Join our DISCERN Program

A 5-session journey with a local chapter of peers, supported by a Socratic AI-powered Christian discernment platform. To move from conviction to action.
